The Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting program is an international competition open to screenwriters who have not earned more than $5,000 writing for film or television. Entry scripts must be the original work of a sole author or of exactly two collaborative authors. Entries must have been written originally in English. Adaptations and translated scripts are not eligible. Up to five $30,000 fellowships are awarded each year.
The 2008 competition is now closed. After a screenplay has been received by our office, it takes 7 days or more for us to process due to the volume of entries. Please be patient as it will take some amount of time before your online account will show your script as being "Confirmed."
What are the advantages to submitting my application form electronically?
- Edit your contact information at anytime online.
- Confirm receipt of your screenplay(s) in the competition. "Incomplete" next to your script title means you have not finished filling out your application. "Pending": you have completed your application, are paying by check, and we have not yet processed your script. "Paid-Script not processed": you have completed your application, paid by credit card, and we have not yet processed your script. "Confirmed": the script has been logged into our database and is in competition.
*Due to the high volume of entries, you may experience a delay in getting through to the online application. Please try again later if you are currently unable to access the online application.
